At the end of 2019, the municipality of Oegstgeest presented a Youth Prevention Agreement that we as SKO have co-signed. Providing a solid foundation, early and accessible support and expertise among professionals is central to the Prevention Agreement. In the meantime, many initiatives have already been started within the municipality in which SKO is also involved. We are happy to tell you more about it.
Early detection and prevention in pre-school facilities
Childcare plays an important role in early detection and good cooperation with education and care is important. At our 0-4 year locations, we are working on a high-quality transfer from childcare to school. To this end, we are participating in a pilot in the Leiden Region. The aim is a (warm) transfer of all children between daycare and school. We are currently working on a transfer form that will contain additional information in addition to the LOOK! form for a good transfer.
Expert toddlers and preschoolers with a developmental advantage
This month our colleague Sabine van der Does passed as Expert toddlers and preschoolers with a developmental advantage. Sabine has followed intensive training in the past year together with colleagues from care and education. She has learned to identify children with a developmental advantage and to provide them with a suitable offer. Together with Mieke van Vugt, pedagogical coach, she will also participate in the knowledge circle in order to develop a strong network within Oegstgeest on giftedness.
Young parents at SKO
Young parents experience many changes in their lives and SKO would like to support them in their new parenting role. We are organizing our first young parent meetings in the fall. We offer parents the opportunity to come into contact with each other (build up a network), to gain knowledge about childcare, information about the first months of a child and about the social map of Oegstgeest. We work together with the nurses of the JGT and the Preventive Speech Therapy.
