It's the same song every morning... You discuss the day with your child. ´First you go to school, then to the BSO and at the end of the day I will pick you up at the BSO! . And here it comes, your child with a long face: 'I don't want to go to BSO!'. So make the agreement together that you will leave work early this time to be able to pick up your son or daughter from the BSO on time. Child happy, you happy!
And as sweet as moms and dads are, they work hard all day long to get away from work on time and go to the after-school care quickly. Along the way, you as a parent are already planning what you can do with the extra time you have together for dinner. You enter the BSO completely enthusiastic and the first thing you hear is: 'Nooooo, already??!!' 'I don't want to go home yet!'
Secretly, as parents and childcare workers, we can't help but laugh about that a little. Because even though you, as a parent, are bummed that you aren't received with the desired enthusiasm, you are happy that your child is having such a good time at after-school care! And that the reaction in the mornings turns out to be a morning mood rather than an actual anti-after-school-care feeling. So rest assured, dear parents, everything always works out at after-school care! ;-)
Besides this most common and recognizable moment at the end of the day for many of our parents, there are of course a number of fun and recognizable clichés:
• 'At BSO they always listen so well and are so sweet!' If only they did that at home.
• You will not be able to take your child home at the BSO because they have been playing for hours with games/toys that they have not looked after at home for months.
• 'They always eat so well at the BSO!' Parents: 'Gosh, so you're eating your plate tonight too?!'
• Being told that your child was out all afternoon, but always wants to hang out behind the scenes at home.
Greetings,
Natalie
