As of September 1, Mariëlle Balledux has joined the Supervisory Board of SKO Oegstgeest. The Board was looking for a supervisor with a strong pedagogical profile and has found this in Mariëlle.
As a developmental psychologist working as a senior advisor, program manager, and spokesperson at the Netherlands Youth Institute (NJI), she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of child development and pedagogy. Additionally, she has dozens of publications to her name and is regularly asked to share her views on current pedagogical issues.
Mariëlle succeeds Marleen Beumer on the Supervisory Board. In addition to the Child & Development portfolio, Marleen also played an important role as a representative of the employee representation. This gives Mariëlle a direct connection to the well-being, interests, and voice of employees within SKO Oegstgeest. This connection with the workplace is ensured in various ways. For instance, structured annual consultations take place between a member of the Supervisory Board and the Works Council. These consultations provide an opportunity to gather independent information and gain insight into what is happening within the organization. Mariëlle also brings valuable experience in the field of employee participation from her own career. At the Netherlands Youth Institute, she served as chair of the Works Council for many years and also held roles as interim manager and interim board secretary.
From 2026 onwards, SKO Oegstgeest is also taking a new step in strengthening participation. In a joint pilot, representatives of the Works Council and the Central Parents' Committee (COC) will engage in dialogue more frequently regarding strategic issues. Because policy choices often have consequences for employees, children, and parents alike, SKO aims to involve both perspectives jointly earlier and more frequently. As part of this collaboration, Mariëlle attended a joint meeting of the COC and Works Council with the Board on September 14 and met four of the Works Council members.
We wish Mariëlle much success and enjoyment in her new role and congratulate her, the members of the Supervisory Board, Managing Director Evalien Rengers, and all employees, parents, children, and other stakeholders of SKO Oegstgeest on this valuable addition.
