Childcare for every child

Social childcare

Opt for social childcare

SKO is a proud member of the Industry association for social childcare (BMK)† We believe that all children have the right to childcare and a fair start, regardless of their parents' income or work, regardless of religion, migration background or skin color. We have also included this in our mission and vision† It is partly thanks to the social childcare organisations, united in the BMK, that the new cabinet has included virtually free childcare in its plans.

This is a good first step that the government is taking now for the future, because both children and parents benefit from professional childcare. We know from research that childcare is good for the development of children. The first 1000 days are crucial for the brain development of the young child. Children who have received little or no emotional support or stimulation between the ages of 0 and 4 fall behind, which will affect them for the rest of their lives. Because children benefit from childcare throughout their lives; they do better in school and are more successful in their careers.

In addition, there is a growing awareness that children need different competencies for the society of the future. Out-of-school care can make an important contribution to the development of these competencies and to broad talent development for children aged 4 to 12 years. Childcare lays a solid foundation for the lifelong development of children.

That is why all children, including children of non-working parents, are entitled to professional supervision by pedagogical staff who stimulate children in their emotional, physical, social and motor development. In this way children develop self-confidence, they become aware of their talents and they develop social skills and a positive self-image.

What are the plans?

In the plans of the new cabinet, childcare will be very affordable for parents. It will take a few years before the plans are implemented, because changes in the law are needed. That is why the government will not reimburse working parents for 95% of childcare until January 1, 2025. On the website free childcare you can read all about the plans per year page. The FAQs are regularly supplemented and answers will sometimes be adjusted in line with current policy and decision-making.
